Recovering from surgery or an injury takes patience. In the weeks afterward, many people notice swelling, tightness and a heavy, puffy feeling. Here in Cocoa Village, Miracle Manual Lymphatic Drainage offers gentle, hands-on support during that season of recovery.

What Is Manual Lymphatic Drainage?

Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) is a very light, rhythmic massage. Instead of pressing into muscle like deep tissue work, Forrest uses slow, gentle strokes that softly stretch the skin. Your lymphatic system, a network of vessels just beneath the skin, carries a clear fluid called lymph back toward the heart, and MLD is intended to encourage that flow.

Who May Enjoy Lymphatic Drainage

Many clients find lymphatic drainage leaves them feeling lighter and more comfortable, including people who are:

  • Recovering from cosmetic procedures such as liposuction or a tummy tuck

  • Getting back on their feet after knee, hip or shoulder surgery

  • Bouncing back from sprains, falls or sports injuries

  • Craving a calm, gentle session

Every recovery is different, so please check with your surgeon about when lymphatic massage is right for you. We're happy to follow your care team's guidance.

What a Session Feels Like

You rest comfortably on the table while Forrest works with about the weight of a hand on the skin, often starting near the neck and collarbones. It should never feel painful. Many people find the rhythm deeply relaxing, and some drift off. Fresh incisions or a compression garment? Just let us know, and Forrest will work around sensitive areas.

Meet Forrest

Your session is with J. Forrest Hoekstra, BCDNM, LMT, CHHP, Board Certified in Natural Medicine, a licensed massage therapist and Certified Holistic Health Practitioner trained in Dr. John Barnes' Myofascial Release Approach. His own path into bodywork began with a serious injury, so he understands how slow recovery can feel. Clients visit from Rockledge, Merritt Island and all over Brevard County and the Space Coast.

A Note on Wellness

Massage, including lymphatic drainage, is offered for relaxation and general wellness. It is not a substitute for medical care, so please keep working with your doctor and surgeon on any health concerns.
